second part of this theme re the church rebuild.
Standing now safe from the sea, the present church of St Mary the Virgin at Hillborough, Reculver. Part of the stonework and the bell were reclaimed from Reculver about a quarter of a mile away although that original bell was stolen in 1970 and had to be replaced.

This window dedicated to Ethelbert, King of Kent who "retired" with his Court to Reculver, it shows the badge of Kent, a white horse on a red shield.
The organ by F.H.Browne of Canterbury was installed in 1955.

There is a increasing amount of history regarding Reculver including the testing of the Dam Busters bouncing bomb which was trialed just off Reculver.
